J. Northrup

Jonathan P. Northrup

Mr. Northrup brings broad experience to BetaCat, having worked at Eli Lilly and Company as an executive in Finance, Marketing, Sales, Corporate Business Development and Corporate Strategy; in management consulting with Asian companies, and in founding the venturing group with Jubilant Life Sciences. Mr. Northrup is a Certified Licensing Professional in the Licensing Executive Society, received his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in Finance, and received his BA in Economics from Northwestern University.

Dr. Sharma

Sunil Sharma, MD

Dr. Sharma is the Deputy Director, Clinical Sciences, TGen, an Affiliate of City of Hope.  Dr. Sharma has conducted over 150 clinical trials over the past 15 years. Dr. Sharma started the G/I oncology investigational program at the Nevada Cancer Institute in Las Vegas and was in charge of several new drugs and their development with Novartis. Dr. Sharma has also worked at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital, one of the most prestigious cancer hospitals in the world. Dr. Sharma is a fellow of Dr. Daniel Van Hoff, who is often considered to be the most influential physician in oncology drug development of the last 30 years.

Joe Cunningham, MD

Dr. Cunningham is the managing director as Sante Ventures. 

Prior to founding Santé, Joe was a healthcare Venture Partner with Austin Ventures and Vice Chair of the Ascension Health Ventures investment committee. He is also the former Chief Medical Officer of the Providence Health System and Executive Director of the 300-physician Providence Health Alliance.  He has extensive management experience and is recognized nationally for his expertise in healthcare delivery systems, physician associations and compensation models.

Kenneth Carter PhD

Dr. Carter has been involved in the formation and early stage development of several biotechnology companies as a co-founder, consultant or member of the board of directors. He co-founded Avalon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in January 1999 and served as CEO for 10 years Prior to that, Dr. Carter directed the gene mapping initiative at Human Genome Sciences, Inc. Dr. Carter has served on the boards of directors for multiple biotechnology industry organizations including the Maryland Health Care Product Development Corporation and the National BIO Industry Organization. He also served recently as a special advisor to the Maryland Governor’s Life Sciences Advisory Board and is on the Advisory Council for the Center for Biotechnology Education at Johns Hopkins University where he also holds an adjunct faculty appointment

Nancy Chang

Nancy is a successful biotechnology entrepreneur, who sold Tanox, a biotech company specializing in the discovery and development of biotherapeutics based on monoclonal antibody technology, to Genentech for almost $1 Billion in 2006.  She currently runs Apex Enterprise Inc. , President 2012 – Present, and has wide ranging investments and activities across the world.  She was with OrbiMed Advisors, as Chairman and Senior Managing Director, 2008 – 2012, and Tanox, Inc.,  Chairman and CEO, 1987 – 2007.  Nancy received her degree in Biological Chemistry from the Harvard Medical School.  Nancy is a Board Observer.
